FAT COOKIE
Choose Dough. +Add Stuff. "Name It!"

My name is When-Dee Morrison and I run this crazy company. It started from my attempt to help my husband win over some of his groovy customers. He needed snacks for his many business meetings and I was at home with my then 1 year old daughter needing a creative outlet. All I can make are cookies and cakes (and cakes are not conducive to business suits, too many parts, forks, plates, etc). So I attempted to put together some cookie combos.

But if you've ever seen my kitchen, I never have the basics all the cooking shows say you should have on hand. SO I found myself with half the ingredients needed to make these cookies and a crazy brain to assist. I threw stuff in them that didn't make sense and the people loved them (AND gave my husband some business). This went on for a few years and although I started stocking the cupboards with the proper basics, I always threw weird ingredients in that got my cookies attention at these functions. People said I should start a business and I laughed at first but then I started thinking, could I really do it? I got my head together and did some research and then decided to go for it. I did massive amounts of testing for our doughs, made a 1000 cookies to see what mix-ins would actually work, sent friends test shipments to see how our packaging held up during transit and spent hours and hours brainstorming on everything from logos and company names to business numbers and growth plans to see if I could stay afloat. I also needed to make sure I could still be a stay-at-home mom for my three little ones, one who was still in my tummy while I was doing all of this.

Hoping others would find it cool to make their own cookie concoctions, we opened for business November 2006 after being certified by the Dept of Agriculture and Consumer Services by the State of Virginia. They handle all the food safety inspections for home based businesses. I work out of my home in a completely separate cookie kitchen that is closed off from the rest of the household chaos. I have baked for weddings, birthday parties, The Hyatt Corporation, Marriott Hotels, schools, and many, many wonderful customers.

The best thing to me is the assortment of wild combinations that people put together. Being able to build your own cookie is downright cool especially when you can keep your own kitchen clean. And for those of you who are like me and live outside the box, this is your place to be free.

ENJOY!
